The story that nobody's talking about is that the core of socio-economic global-cultural relationships and dependencies (enablers) is experiencing a comprehensive MELTDOWN.

No God exists to stop it.

No politics can fix it.

No economy can solve it.

Positive thinking cant make it go away.

or die, in the imploding collapse and disintegration.

The USA as a nation where god is everybody’s enema. Before the Great Migration it’s the pubic hair of talk radio, the feces in the outhouse of culture. Religious extremists control language with the spinning svastika of chriztian republikanizm. Eden vanishes without a trace. No floating zoo, its only chance for escape will be to hide in the Zennunderground, believing in the New Order of the Rosy Curse.

It appears that people who believe something they think is "true" often feel violated, offended and victimized if and when they find out that it's NOT true. It's as if they have an ENTITLEMENT to believe only the TRUTH. The internet has proven beyond a doubt that there IS no truth. We have the right to believe anything we want, but we have no right to expect that belief to be true.

On the road from Islamabad to New York

Much of Pakistan’s capital looks like a Los Angeles suburb. Shiny sport utility vehicles purr down gated driveways. Elegant multistory homes are tended by servants. Laundry is never hung out to dry. The city has a population of 601,604 residents. Islamabad is beautiful. It is a region-wide symbol of progress, innovation and architectural marvel. It is a very safe city indeed, with very little crime rate ..and oh, by the way, there's a war going on over there, too. A US drone attack on Thursday killed six militants in Pakistan's rebel-infested northwestern tribal belt, security officials said -- the fourth strike in 24 hours. PAKISTAN police have arrested three suspects linked to a Pakistani-American accused in New York of the attempted car bombing of Times Square. The three were detained in Pakistan's capital. Last year, rescue workers searched through the gutted remains of the bombed Marriott Hotel in Pakistan’s capital and found more bodies, bringing the death toll from the terrorist attack to 52.

Pakistan became a major exporter of heroin in the 1980s, following the influx of Afghan refugees escaping the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The major consequence of this has been a significant increase in domestic consumption of heroin. Heroin was virtually unknown in the country until the late '70s. Today, Pakistan is not only one of the main exporters of heroin, it has also become a net importer of drugs. It is estimated that about 50 tons of opium are smuggled into Pakistan for processing heroin for domestic use. Almost 80 percent of the opium processed in Pakistan comes from neighboring countries. Opium poppies have always been grown on both sides of Pakistan's border with Afghanistan, but it became the world's main exporter of heroin after the Soviet invasion. The drugs trade continues to finance not only the Taliban, but terrorism around the world.

A leading global city, New York exerts a powerful influence over global commerce, finance, media, culture, art, fashion, research, education, and entertainment and drug abuse. New York City is one of the most significant drug destinations and distribution centers in the United States. Heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, MDMA and meth. Most of New York City’s meth supply is from the west coast via couriers who fly to the west coast, pick up pounds of meth and then return to New York. Meth abuse is encountered in the gay community, nightclub patrons, economically depressed rural neighborhoods, and motorcycle gangs. A New York City-funded guidebook for heroin users offers information on how to prepare drugs carefully and care for veins to avoid infection. The goal is to promote health and save lives.

The Face of Islamophobia

One thing missing in the conversation about religious freedom is the understanding and recognition that Islamophobia is the logical consequence of Christianity. Islamophobia is not merely a symptom of Christianity; rather it’s the manifestation of ignorance, bigotry and prejudice inbred in Christians and other religious people, generally. Islamophobia is like the bitter fruit of incest between a father and daughter having a Judeo-Christian world-view, on one hand, and pride of American Christian supremacy on the other.

Viewed in this light, hate crimes against Muslims in the United States are simple acts of Christian doctrine, and should’ve been anticipated long ago. In other words, there will never be peaceful co-existence in the world as long as religion and imperialism in any form are allowed to exist at all. The three so-called “great” world religions (Christianity, Islam and Judiasm) are suicide bombers and the rest of us living on the planet are the victims of their fanaticism.

But, of course, “peaceful co-existence” is not what Christianity is all about. Wasn’t it Jesus who was quoted as saying, "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” (Mt. 10:34) And then he also said, “Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division...” (Luke 12:51)

So why do we act surprised that there is so much fear and hatred in our communities? Or could it be that it's possible for human beings to aspire to attain levels of experience other than to only be a Jew, or a Muslim, or a Christian, or an American?

I won’t wait for the answer; not in this lifetime.

Judge Walker Overturns Ban on Same-Sex Marriage

"The tradition of restricting marriage to opposite-sex couples does not further any state interest. Rather, the evidence shows that Proposition 8 harms the state’s interest in equality, because it mandates that men and women be treated differently based only on antiquated and discredited notions of gender."

"The evidence shows same-sex marriage has and will have no adverse effects on society or the institution of marriage...California has no interest in waiting and no practical need to wait to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples."

"The evidence shows that, by every available metric, opposite-sex couples are not better than their same-sex counterparts; instead, as partners, parents and citizens, opposite-sex couples and same-sex couples are equal."

"In the absence of a rational basis, what remains of proponents’ case is an inference, amply supported by evidence in the record, that Proposition 8 was premised on the belief that same-sex couples simply are not as good as opposite-sex couples. Whether that belief is based on moral disapproval of homosexuality, animus towards gays and lesbians or simply a belief that a relationship between a man and a woman is inherently better than a relationship between two men or two women, this belief is not a proper basis on which to legislate."

California’s obligation is to treat its citizens equally, not to “mandate [its] own moral code.”

Afghan Woman

The vast majority of Afghanistan's population professes to be followers of Islam. Over 1400 years ago, Islam demanded that men and women be equal before God, and gave them various rights such the right to inheritance, the right to vote, the right to work, and even choose their own partners in marriage. For centuries now in Afghanistan, women have been denied these rights either by official government decree or by their own husbands, fathers, and brothers. During the rule of the Taliban (1996 - 2001), women were treated worse than in any other time or by any other society. They were forbidden to work, leave the house without a male escort, not allowed to seek medical help from a male doctor, and forced to cover themselves from head to toe, even covering their eyes. Women who were doctors and teachers before, suddenly were forced to be beggars and even prostitutes in order to feed their families.

Since the fall of the Taliban in late 2001, many would agree that the political and cultural position of Afghan women has improved substantially. The recently adopted Afghan constitution states that "the citizens of Afghanistan - whether man or woman- have equal rights and duties before the law". So far, women have been allowed to return back to work, the government no longer forces them to wear the all covering burqa, and they even have been appointed to prominent positions in the government. Despite all these changes many challenges still remain. The repression of women is still prevalent in rural areas where many families still restrict their own mothers, daughters, wives and sisters from participation in public life. They are still forced into marriages and denied a basic education. Numerous school for girls have been burned down and little girls have even been poisoned to death for daring to go to school.

The Face of Anarchy

Anarchy: a state of lawlessness and disorder (usually, but not always, resulting from a failure of government. Not necessarily violent.) Anarchy is a symptom of disease, decay, decline and defeat. These and other symptoms are irreversible and have roots in all forms of religion, religious beliefs, belief in God and gods, belief in imaginary causes, magical thinking (astrology, numerology), capitalism, greed, all forms of government, including democracy, homophobic power religons (Christianity, Judaism, Islam seeking power, money and property) and bankrupt philosophies (for example, Hinduism, pedophilia-ridden Catholicism, the American Indians, Mormonism, new age movements and other cults), all of which are symptoms of disease. Anarchy is the natural manifestation of symptoms of decay, poison, sickness, death, rot and resignation.

Anarchy (from Greek: ἀναρχίᾱ anarchíā, "without ruler") may include any of the following:

1. "No rulership or enforced authority." [as in mandatory health insurance, unfunded state mandates, broken education system, broken judicial system and an ineffectual partisan congress.]

2. "Absence of government; a state of lawlessness due to the absence or inefficiency of the supreme power; political disorder." [as in partisan politics, lobbying, run-away recession, industrial/corporate anarchy, broken borders, unemployment, homelessness, hunger, poverty, domestic violence, crime, sexual dysfunction, discrimination of same-sex relationships.]

3. "A social state in which there is no governing person or group of people, but each individual has absolute liberty (without the implication of disorder)." [as in all forms of religious fundamentalism, extremism, predominance of clergy, priests, pastors and evangelicals, the internet.]

4. "Absence or non-recognition of authority and order in any given sphere." [as in the absence of separation of powers, disrespect for leadership, no leadership, neo-con's effort for a permanent republican majority, home foreclosures, bank bail-outs.]

5. "Act[ing] without waiting for instructions or official permission... The root of anarchism is the single impulse to do it yourself: everything else follows from this." [as in the Tea Party Movement and other forms of Republican obstructionism]

Kenneth Rexroth on San Francisco Fifty Years Ago

In January 1960 the San Francisco Examiner (a Hearst newspaper) offeredKenneth Rexroth a job writing a weekly column. He accepted. By May 1961 thecolumn had proved popular enough that he was asked to do two and sometimeseven three per week.

The association was an odd one. Although Rexroth was by that time awell-known figure in the Bay Area, he was known primarily as a political and cultural radical, and even (somewhat misleadingly) as "the godfather of the Beat Generation." But he was willing to work for the Examiner as long as they gave him complete freedom to write whatever he wanted. They did till June 1967, when they fired him after he wrote a particularly scathing article about the American police.

All told, Rexroth wrote approximately 700 columns for the Examiner. I am tentatively planning to post all of them 50 years after their original appearance. If all goes well and don't get OD'd with the project, it will be completed on June 18, 2017.

Normally I plan to post each column on the exact 50th anniversary of its original appearance. But to kick-start the series, I have posted the first five all at once -- January 31, 1960, plus the four from February.

Needless to say, the columns vary widely in topic and interest. Some offer incisive commentary that remains astonishingly relevant on all sorts of general issues, social, political, cultural, urbanistic and ecological. Others are more dated, such as reviews of particular musical or theatrical performances. I think you will find, however, that his remarks about even the most ephemeral topics are full of amusing observations and perceptive insights; and that the ensemble constitutes a unique and fascinating chronicle of those eventful years.

To the degree that we become frustrated with our inability to make a difference and effect change concerning big issues like health care, the economy, employment, education, war, peace, prosperity and individual happiness, as a nation we sink to the lowest common denominator of mundane pettiness. As terrorists plan their next big hit, we’re concerned about a baseball player using steroids. As stupid wars rage without end in Iraq and Afghanistan, we self-righteously condemn a golfer for having too much sex with women who aren’t his wife. Unemployment is at an all-time high, but we’re offended by silly words someone used, quoted in a book. Home foreclosures, unemployment, crime, mediocre education, a bankrupt judicial system: yeah, sure, so what? Let’s talk about late night TV’s comedy lineup. We didn’t have the guts to impeach and imprison Bush/Cheney when we had a chance, so now we’ll damn sure stop gay marriage and write segregation into law. Did someone make racist remarks during the presidential campaign? We can bet on it that when fat cat homophobic white Christian Republicans go behind closed doors, they turn on FOX propaganda TV, light their cigars, drink their Jack Daniels, read their porn magazines and use more offensive racist language than anything Harry Reid ever said. Make no mistake, GOP bigots know exactly what side their white bread is buttered.
